MLB Twitter in awe as Angels’ Shohei Ohtani hits two home runs vs. Yankees
Shoehei Ohtani. That’s it. That’s the lede.
The Angels pitcher on Tuesday continued his ridiculous run of success, hitting his MLB-leading 27th and 28th home runs against the Yankees. Add to that his 2.58 ERA entering Tuesday’s game — and the fact that he has homered 10 times in his last 13 games — and MLB Twitter was understandably in awe of the Angels superstar.
Ohtani’s first home run — a solo bomb that pushed him past Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 26 for first place outright — came in the top of the third to cut the Yankees’ lead to 5-3. It came off a 3-1 slider from Jameson Taillon.

Ohtani hammered another homer to right field off Taillon, though the Yankees’ lead by then had ballooned to 10-5 after the two-run shot.
Just another day in the life of the clear frontrunner for the American League MVP. As routine as excellence may be for Ohtani, Twitter was still quick to lay on the accolades for one of the most exciting players in baseball:
