Just what the heck is Saints’ Michael Thomas trying to say with this cryptic sub-tweet?
Twitter: Not even once.
Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is currently rehabbing after getting ankle surgery very, very, surprisingly late in the offseason, and now Thomas is expected to miss the beginning of the season because of it.
Amid reports that Thomas has been ignoring New Orleans’ brass phone calls this offseason, Thomas on Monday sent out a cryptic tweet that seems to indicate that there may be something being hidden from the organization’s side.

“They tried to damage your reputation. You tried to save theirs by not telling your side of the story,” the tweet reads.
But what does it all mean, Basil?
On its surface, it seems that Thomas is sub-tweeting the Saints, by saying that he won’t actually reveal what the Saints supposedly did (or didn’t do) this offseason that would be potentially damning for the organization.
With recent reports indicating that Thomas wasn’t answering New Orleans’ calls in recent months during the offseason, Thomas may be trying to paint the other side in a negative light to save face for a poor decision. Or maybe New Orleans really has done something wrong or mishandled the situation entirely from the jump.
Thomas reportedly sought a second opinion that didn’t require surgery on the injured ankle, but team doctors suggested he get surgery in January. Ultimately, Thomas opted to not get surgery after a meeting with the team in March. The lack of communication followed.
Thomas eventually opted to get the surgery in June, leaving the start of the season in doubt for the veteran.
Things seem rocky for Thomas and the Saints right now. We’ll see whether New Orleans responds via a passive aggressive Instagram post in the coming days.
